Hey Cat - My last name is Osterman - I wonder if there is any distant relation? It is not very often I hear the Osterman name for someone who isn't part of my family. I have a 6 year old daughter who is loving watching you and the team play. We are excited for you! It is really cool for her to see Osterman on the back of your jersey because it is one of the few "big" words she knows how to read..:-) Keep up the good work and best of luck to you for the rest of the competition!

The Osterman family may have relatives in a lot of places, but none that we know of from Montana. The Osterman family is mainly from southern Illinois.

I spoke with my mom and her father told her when she was young that when his family immigrated to the US they all settled in Illinois and then spread out. My great great grandfather settled in Montana. The other man that emailed that he is an Osterman is in Washington - my great great uncle apparently settled in Washington!

Great game, I never thought I would be so engrossed in a softball game but the skill level of all the players was awe inspiring. Friends of mine have their daughters enrolled in softball varying all ages and after speaking with them I didn't get the reasoning behind all the effort. Now I see the results and I have to admit it is admirable. What an accomplishment, hopefully the sport gets another chance in the olympics. Mad props Team USA!

I want you to know that BOYS like to watch fastpitch to. My mom and I watch it every time it is on tv. My name is Dylan and I am 12 and I play baseball. I play pitcher and catcher and center field and shortstop but I mostly play pitcher and shortstop (Natasha Watly rocks). Every year since I was 8 I made the all star team and my team mates call me the closer or Big D or ice. I always tell them if they want to learn the fundementels then they should watch fast pitch. Now my team mates and my coach watch fast pitch to. My mom lets me stay up late with her to watch team usa in the olympics since school did not start yet and we both love to watch fast pitch and the olympics are onlyl every four years and it won't be in teh next olympics. I like all of team usa but you are my favorite player because I started watching you when you were in college and because you are a good pitcher and my mom said you picked going to texas because you wanted to help them win more games and because I live in Illinois and you play and coach in Illinois and because I love underarmor and I wear it all the time. I hope one day I am good enough at one of the sports I play that they want to pay me to wear their clothes. That would be the best job ever to play sports and wear underarmor. I watched you play in college to and that is when you became my favorite player. I hope team usa wins the gold. My mom and I are going to watch every game no matter what time it is on unless a game comes on in the late afternoon when I have football practice. I am happy you got a no hitter because that is hard to do and good luck in all your games to you and team usa. Can you put a picture of your gold medal here for us to see when you get it please? My mom says no team has ever won 4 gold medals in a row so ........ Congratulations on your no hitter against Australia..I've been following your career since your freshman year at Texas but have never gotten to see you pitch. I wanted to see you this year in either OKC or Topeka but things didn't work out. I was also suppose to see you both with Texas and Team USA in 2006 but those plans back fired on me also. Good Luck to you and Team USA in your quest for the Gold. I know you all will do this because I believe in you. and the team. I watched both games and you were awesome. Absolutely unbelievable. Watching your game against Australia was truly a joy to watch. As a "newbie" to USA Womens softball I was totally impressed and enthralled with yours and the teams skill, professionalism and poise. Its wonderful to watch a group of athletes who obviously love what they are doing and cherish the opportunity to represent this country. It is Dylan again. Do you answer questions we ask because if you do then I have some questions. What presents do you give and get before every game starts when you and the other team is on teh field after they call your names? Is that to show that you are a good sport? Do the 3 stars on your uniform and helmet stand for the 3 gold medals you have already won? What do you do in China when you are not playing softball or eating? Do you get to watch other sports? Do you have to pay money to go see other sports?

SInce they called the guys basketball team teh dream team they should call your team the cream team since you beat other teams by so much. I told you my nicknames are the closer and Big D and ice so my friends think your nickname should be the magician because you make your drop ball disappear and because you get batters to swing at pitches that are not in the strike zone and because you can make your pitch move so much like it is magic. You had another good pitching game and I am happy for you and your team to win boyh games. Now you are two games closwer to a gold. I have to go to football practice now so I have to go but I will see your team tonight. Go USA

Hello cat I am a big fan of the ut so of course I kept up with all of the sports there including yours. The no-hitter was very impressive. I hope you and your teamates stay focused and keep playing great. Of course as somebody who played baseball and some softball for church leagues and junior college I know that there is always something everybody can improve on. My dad and I got the chance to see the team play in Johnson City, TN in April when you destroyed our home team. We stay up everynight to watch the team play and we enjoy every minute of it. Hi Cat,

Phenominal pitching so far. I noticed that several umpires, especially the short female home plate umpire, call extremely wide strikes on the outside corner to left handed batters. I'm sure you picked up on this. If you throw lots of curves to lefties on the outside corner they will never touch you. What do you think? They don't call outside strikes to righties though. I was pulling for you to complete the Canada game with no hits, but you caught too much of the fat part of the plate on the pitch that was singled to right. No big deal.
You are representing the US with complete class. Keep up the good work.

Hey Cat way to go. My comment is a little different. I think you are not only the best athlete in the olympics but you are also the prettiest. I dont know why but when you are on your game you become the sexiest woman on earth. I love the pigtails. Keep it up and bring home gold. Maybe the mens baseball team could use some help. Great Job pitching...and for all the people staying up and watching you ladies play..we say "Your Welcome." I truly say your welcome..because w/out you and your team..I don't think I would be as motivated as I am today..but we are all glad to see you and your team with a smile on your faces..we love softball and we love seeing you ladies play...and its worth every minute of it! And you and Jennie and Monica are INCREDIBLE pitchers..so you ladies put on quite the performance..including the offense...of course..for the batters.. Keep up the great work and we'll stay up watching & cheering!

I have been a huge fan since your UT days. I'm so fortunate that I have a Digital Video Recorder, so I can record your late night games and watch the next day.
I so appreciate your intensity, skill, and your appreciation for your team-mates.

Hey Cat, just want to tell you that you and the whole team are doing a FANTASTIC JOB over there in beijing!!! I know people always say that you are an inspiration to them...well their right, you are an inspiration to many people! I believe that God put you in this world to be an inspiration to people, and you are doing a FANATASTIC job at it!!! You are a beautiful creation of God, I can't tell you that enough but I know that God is SO proud of you!!!! So keep up the good work, and i wanted to wish you luck in grad school.
